Good point Mr. Falcon. If the genetic code was there to provide for future different nations based on skin color, shape of the eyes, color and type of hair, would/should he have anticipated that future conflicts would arise from this especially when he is supposed to be responsible for the different languages as well. It seems to be a recipe for disaster. -Leslie

Question Directed at Religious People
by Mr. Falcon ini'm currently dealing with some very religious jw family members and this has led to several "debates" (i hate to use the term debate, since it's more of a one-sided argument where they do nothing but reference watchtower publications, but whatever).. gotta be careful in what i'm about to ask, since there's been quite a bit of turmoil on here whenever there is a religion vs. science sort of discussion.
i've searched on past threads as this topic has come up but haven't received any real answers one way or another.
just lots of fighting.

Interesting but I definitely think they need to do more research. The research doesn't seem to take into consideration which came first, the mental illness or the spirituality. A person can be mentally ill for many years before it becomes blatantly obvious that they are ill. Did they seek out spirituality because they are mentally ill or the other way around? We have all seen how the mentally ill have been treated by others and perhaps this is why they do not regularly attend a church or identify with a particular religion. I know from first hand experience how the JWs backed away and avoided me when my Bi-Polar caused me to act "strange". just my .02 cents. -Leslie

One reasoning I heard was that the genetic code of Adam & Eve contained all the necessary genes to cause the difference in color and so on. They used the example of recessive genes. For example, a child is born with red hair and neither the parents, grandparents, or extended family has red hair, where did it come from. Then looking many generations back into the family tree they see that some predecessor from 300 years ago had red hair. Not my idea but that was one explanation I heard. - Leslie

This generation will by now means pass away..."
by Jewel ini haven't been to a meeting (other than some cousins' weddings) for well over twenty years.
i've always wondered what the fds was going to do with the "generations" thing once pretty much everybody who had been alive in 1914 is gone.
i get that they've come up with some "new light" about this topic, but when i ask my mom (who's still in) i only get "well, the new understanding is complicated...".

LOL @ Think about it. Since "they" more than likely monitor this site, I wouldn't be surprised if they actually used your idea. That would be hilarious, "new light" originating from an X-JW site. Bwahahaha -Leslie

Long time listener first time caller
by Defianttruth ini would like to thank everyone who is a part of this community.
i have been abused by this billion dollar evil religion since i was born.
i am now in my late thirties and have been battling depression issues over my former abuses by this nongoverment organization.

Welcome Defianttruth. I was very impressed by the fact that when you finally outgrew your father and could have laid a real beating on him, you didn't, because you didn't want to become like him. That takes a lot of strength. I wish you all the best in your healing journey. You have been blessed with a lovely little family. Looking forward to hearing more from you. Leslie

Horrible day
by 88JM ini just had to come on here and vent - i'm having a horrible day.. firstly, had to sit through a horrible public talk about obedience to the "superior authorities" (whoever they decide that is this week) - all kinds of crazy stuff taking verses in romans way out of context.. then had to sit through that hideous watchtower defending david.
one brother actually used the words "we want to follow in david's footsteps" - i was nearly ready to vomit.
just a total gloss-over.

BIG HUG (((88JM))) It is torture once the mind wakes up to TTATT and the body is stuck listening to the tripe that is dished out. So sorry that you couldn't have a nice quiet lunch to recover from the meeting but were subjected to more tripe at lunch. Fading is difficult but you are doing well in keeping your cool until you get your ducks in a row. You have taken a huge step by working on building up a support network outside of the KH. These non-JW friends and acquaintances will be very helpful when you are finally able to make the transition from JW world into the real world. Until then, vent away, it helps keep one sane! lol. Welcome Jonno12225. Yes, the truth should withstand scrutiny and that is why the WT. discourages it when it pertains to them. It is so true that the house of cards falls when a fundamental teaching is exposed as being based on false information as you pointed out with the examplle of the mistaken date of 607 BCE for the destruction of Jerusalem. So much of Wt. teaching hinges on that date and without it everything falls apart. Thankfully you figured this out before wasting the better part of your life on a fantasy. -Leslie
